As XXL Magazine reports, a filmmaker/musical producer Quincy Jones III is currently working on releasing TV mini-series focusing on Tupac Shakur’s many personalities. Jones even brought Afeni Shakur, a mother of late rapper for the upcoming project.
“If you look at Tupac’s life, he was a politician, he was musician, and then he was a guy who empowered women,”Quincy says to XXL. “We’re gonna do a six-part series documenting six different areas of his life. It’s a real blessing because for the first time we’ll have access to the family, information and items that only [Afeni Shakur] she would have. There’s a lot of things that he left behind like notebooks, audio tapes of his meetings, and all kinds of stuff so it’ll be a totally different look of Tupac because we actually have that access now. One [episode] is just on Tupac and Biggie’s friendship. You know, there’s a lot of things that people don’t know about that friendship even up until the very last day, things that Tupac was trying to do to mend that relationship. So we’re going to see the side of Tupac that people haven’t seen too often.”
The details about when the mini-series will hit small screens as well as what channel will be broadcasting it were not revealed yet. On a relative note, XXL Magazine will be paying a tribute to Tupac in honor of the 15-year anniversary of rap legend’s death on September 16. The September issue that will hit the stands on August 16 will “include interviews with ’Pac’s biological father, Billy Garland, his ex-wife, Keisha Morris, his first manager, Leila Steinberg, his stepfather, Mutulu Shakur, his group, the Outlawz, and much, much more.”
